Flared nostrils can send certain signals to others that you might not intend! “To flare one’s nostrils” is often used in books to signal that a character is displeased, angry, or nervous. That doesn’t always have to be the case, but in real life, we unconsciously pick up on these body language cues. If you have flared nostrils, it might just influence the way others look at you. You also might not like the way it makes your nose look. Flaring the nostrils makes your nose look broader, which is not always preferred.
What are flared nostrils, also known as nasal flares?
You can probably imagine what flared nostrils look like, it is when your nostrils widen while breathing, creating a broadened look. Your nose is opening more, sometimes making you look angry or displeased, depending on the person. A cartoonish look at it would be comparing it to a bull flaring its nostrils before attacking. No human will experience nasal flaring to this extreme, but it does paint a picture of the widening of the nostrils. Some find this very charming since it adds character, others don’t really like the look of it. As with every cosmetic and aesthetic look, opinions differ.
Why do my nostrils flare?
Flared nostrils may be a hereditary trait and are common to a range of ethnic groups including Asians, Africans, and Aborigines. That doesn’t mean that these are the only ethnicities that experience nasal flares. The flaring of the nostrils is caused by the contraction of the alar portion of the nasalis muscle. This is easily fixed by a skilled House of Bratz specialist since we understand the detailed anatomy of the nasal musculature. A flared nostrils Botox treatment will stop the contraction of the responsible muscles.
House of Bratz flared nostrils Botox treatment
The objective of correcting your flared nostrils is to create a nose that does not broaden when talking, smiling, or performing other facial expressions. House of Bratz accomplishes this look, whilst also making sure that the look is aesthetically pleasing and makes sense with your other facial features. House of Bratz uses Botox (also known as Botulinum toxin), which is a muscle relaxer. Our House of Bratz specialists will inject the relaxer in the alar portion of the nasalis muscle. This muscle is responsible for flaring the nostrils. The flared nostrils Botox treatment will relieve the tension in this muscle, which will stop the nasal flaring.
Flared nostrils Botox treatment process
The flared nostrils Botox treatment by House of Bratz is a pretty simple and straightforward treatment. When you arrive at your appointment, one of our House of Bratz specialists will talk you through the process during your consultation. We want to know what exactly you would like to achieve. We take a look at your medical history and background, and then decide what treatment would suit you best. Before we start the injection process, we take pictures of the area that will be treated. The results of the flared nostrils Botox treatment will be clear as day when you compare the before and after photos.
We apply a topical anaesthetic to numb the area. The area will be thoroughly cleaned and the House of Bratz specialist will then prick the areas to be treated. We will use a thin, sterilised needle to inject Botox into the skin around the nose. This treatment will typically require multiple injections, but it doesn’t take long. Including your consultation, it will take around 10 to 20 minutes.
How long does it take to see the results?
Clients often experience a slight stinging or numbness in the area of the injections just after the flared nostrils Botox treatment. This is normal, and these side effects should wear off within a day. There may be small red spots where you have been injected, but these are almost unnoticeable. You are immediately presentable after the treatment. Botox takes several days to take full effect, but you will see the initial results within 3 to 6 days. I will take up to 14 days to see the final results. After about 3 to 6 months, the effect wears off, and you can repeat the treatment. The more often the treatment is performed, the longer it takes for the effect of the muscle relaxant to wear off. Your muscles become less tense, the more treatments it undergoes.

We advise you to not do the following things after your flared nostrils Botox treatment at House of Bratz:
