Excessive sweating, also known as hyperhidrosis, can seriously affect your daily life. The sweating can occur in unusual situations, such as in cooler weather, or without any trigger at all. It can also be caused by other medical conditions, such as menopause or hyperthyroidism. You might feel like everyone can see how much you’re sweating, making you feel insecure. It is not all bad, though. Sweat does have some positive benefits to your skin. It moisturises and cools the skin. Normal sweat production has been shown to have anti-ageing effects, and it even helps kill harmful bacteria on your skin’s surface. However, excessive sweating is too much of a good thing.
What is excessive sweating exactly?
Excessive sweating is when you sweat more than what is considered normal. Normal is quite subjective when it comes to sweating. People who live in warm climates, such as Dubai, sweat more than people in colder climates, such as the Netherlands. It depends on how much you sweat in your specific situation. Signs and symptoms of excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) may include clammy or wet palms of the hands, clammy or wet soles of the feet, frequent sweating or noticeable sweating that soaks through clothing.
Why do I suffer from excessive sweating?
Even if you don’t notice it, your body is always sweating. When sweat evaporates, it cools your body, handling the heat generated by your metabolism. When your perspiration is visible in the form of beads or drops on the skin, it is often because it’s hot outside, or if you’re exercising. Sometimes even stress can induce visible perspiration. When you notice that visible sweating is not only the case in these scenarios, you might suffer from a condition known as hyperhidrosis. This condition causes you to perspire more than is necessary to regulate your body temperature.
Hyperhidrosis is often a symptom of an underlying health condition. Maybe you suffer from metabolic disorders, diabetes, infections, or lymphatic tumours. Some people experience excessive sweating as a result from alcohol abuse or withdrawal. Sometimes medications can cause excessive perspiration. Sometimes it’s the changes in hormones, brought on by menopause or anxiety, that result in hyperhidrosis. Excessive perspiration can also stem from minor malfunctions within the nervous system.
House of Bratz excessive sweating Botox treatment
Although House of Bratz mostly focuses on aesthetics, we also want our clients to feel happy, beautiful, and secure on the inside. That might be difficult when you struggle with excessive sweating. In the case of the excessive sweating Botox treatment, our objective is to help relax the muscles that are responsible for your excessive sweating issue. House of Bratz uses Botox, which is a Botulinum toxin. It relaxes the necessary muscles and prevents excessive sweating.
Excessive sweating Botox treatment process
House of Bratz values transparency and quality, which is why we always start off with a consultation. During this consultation, we will talk you through the steps of the excessive sweating Botox treatment. Our House of Bratz specialist will take a look at your medical history and background, and together we will decide which treatment will suit you best. There are four areas that you can treat:
- The armpits
- The feet
- The palms
- The forehead
Our team of specialists use their extensive knowledge of muscles and the areas they influence to target the culprit muscles responsible for your excessive sweating issue. We apply a topical anaesthetic to numb the areas that will be treated. These areas will be thoroughly cleaned and the House of Bratz specialist will prick the areas with a thin, sterilised needle to inject Botox into the skin. This treatment will typically require multiple injections, but it doesn’t take long. Including your consultation, it will take around 10 to 20 minutes.
How long does it take to see the results?
You’ll notice the initial results within 3 to 4 days. You’ll experience the final results within 14 days. After your treatment, you might experience a slight stinging or numbness in the area of the injections. Don’t worry, this is perfectly normal and should wear off within a day. You may notice small red spots where you have been injected. These are almost unnoticeable to the eye. Make sure to follow our after-treatment guidelines to prevent infections. The effect of the excessive sweating Botox treatment lasts for about 3 to 6 months, after which you can repeat the treatment. The more often the treatment is performed, the longer it takes for the effect of the muscle relaxant to wear off.
What to do after the treatment?
We advise you to not do the following things after your excessive sweating Botox treatment at House of Bratz:
